About $87-million could be headed to Nevada next year to help pay for road improvements around the state, but some are worried the money will be diverted for other things.
So -- the state chapter of General Contractors has asked NDOT's Board of Directors to work with the legislature to make sure the money does indeed go to the state highway fund.
Beyond that, the contractors board is proposing a plan to use the money to sell bonds.
They say that would generate an estimated $870-million over two years and fund 25,000 jobs.
That proposal has been given to NDOT to be considered during a meeting later this month.
The group says right now - the state highway fund is at the lowest level is more than two decades.
