Dean Kelly ArchieSparks Police have a man behind bars after an incident with his mother Saturday evening.
Police responded to a home on the 2800 block of Laguna Way around 8 p.m. for a report of a loud disturbance involving an intoxicated man named Dean Kelly Archie.
When officers arrived on scene, they say they were confronted by the 45-year old, who was belligerent and threatened to shoot officers.
Police say he ignored the officers' orders and went back into the house where his elderly mother was. Police tried to negotiate with Archie, but they say he was becoming more volatile.
Police received information that Archie may have been harming his mother and they soon entered the home and found he was strangling his mother on a sofa, holding an aluminum can in his hand.
Police then arrested Archie and took him into custody. He was charged with kidnapping, coercion, false imprisonment, domestic battery with strangulation and domestic battery.
Archie's mother was transported to Renown Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.
