Blake MaldonadoSparks Police have a man behind bars after leading police on a high-speed chase with a child in the vehicle Friday night.
Police say around 10:50 p.m., an officer saw a vehicle traveling around 70 miles per hour in a 25 miles per hour zone on Victorian Avenue.
When police tried to stop the vehicle, the driver did not yield and continued to drive at a high-rate of speed through a neighborhood.
Police say the officer continued to pursue the vehicle until it finally came to a stop on Victorian and 5th Street.
Inside the vehicle was the driver, 25-year old Blake Maldonado of Sparks, along with 32-year old Daniel Villanobos and a 5-year old child.
Police say Maldonado was charged with reckless driving, DUI, eluding and child endangerment, while Villanobos was found with an open container of alcohol. He was cited and released.
Police say the child was unharmed and was later released to a family member.
