WINNEMUCCA, Nev. (AP) -- Police in Winnemucca say they don't know what prompted a shooting that has a 14-year-old boy facing a felony murder charge in the death of his mother.
The Elko Daily Free Press reports that the teen told investigators he sometimes had overwhelming feelings of anger and previously thought about suicide.
The boy was arrested after he was seen running from the house Monday afternoon, shortly before his mother was found dead. Police say investigators recovered a gun in the house.
The teen is being held at the Humboldt County Detention Center pending a court appearance.
The Associated Press is not identifying the juvenile or his mother due to his age.
Winnemucca is about 100 miles west of Elko.
