"I don't believe you, say it again," requests Toni Suttie with a smile on her face.
"I love summer."
"I don't believe you, again."
To which the aspiring actor exclaims, "I love summer!" Toni applauds her with excitement, "Awesome!"
Toni is a well-known casting director and mentor. She opened Integrity Casting Nevada in 1996. She has an eye for what it takes to make it in the spotlight. She has made a name and reputation for herself in her 36 years in the entertainment industry. Toni has booked many recognizable names in film, like Joe Pesci and Helen Mirren; but looking out for local talent is her forte. "We've got great actors and our environment and I like to bring the money to our local town. So, I planted my studio here and I have no plans on leaving." She keeps local talent busy. "Right now, I'm casting about 13 projects a week."
Toni's success started at a very early age. "When I was 12 years old, my mom told me to get a job and I did. I got a job as a maid in a motel." A San Francisco couple discovered her while she was cleaning their room; they happened to own their own casting agency. "They said, 'well, would you like a job at our agency?' I literally started from the bottom up. I cleaned ash trays and coffee cups. By the time I was 16, I was answering phones and by the time I was 18 I had my own studio." All because two people believed in her, so now she is paying it forward.
Sixteen years ago, Toni met Isaiah Price and took him under her wing. Like many others, she mentored him and now he helps cast shows like America's Got Talent. Isaiah credits Toni for his growth, not just as an actor/model, but as a person. "I was the most afraid kid you'd ever meet and now I'm probably one of the most confident people you'll meet."
Mentoring is just one of the ways Toni gives back. She started a food pantry to help some of her own and delivers food baskets every Friday to struggling actors. It's her way to support and encourage others when times are tough. She realized at an early age that a loving gesture can make a difference in the script of life; at least, it did for her. "What changed my life is having someone who didn't really know me or my background see something that was special in me."
