Firefighters say a 2,800 acre fire east of Eureka is currently 90% contained.
Authorities say arcing power lines started the Pinto Fire around 12:30am on June 26th.
The fire is burning in critical sage grouse habitat about five miles north of U.S. Highway 50 and just west of State Route 892.
Authorities say fire crews evacuated six people from two ranches on Tuesday morning. The structures were saved. Additional ranches are located four to five miles west of the fire. Neither the ranches nor the Bald Mountain Mine, located 30 miles north of the fire are immediately threatened.
Efforts are underway to restore electric service to Newark Valley residents and local mining operations.
About 120 personnel are fighting the fire.
Full containment is expected by Thursday.
