Firefighters have adjusted the size of a wildfire burning about 20 miles east of Ely thanks to aerial mapping done on Monday.
The North Schell Fire is now 10,402 acres, down from 22,000+ acres originally reported on Monday.
It's currently 15% contained with full containment scheduled for Wednesday night. It's located near the Muncy Creek area of North Schell Mountain Range.
State Route 893 is open to the public, but motorists are encouraged to remain out of the fire area. Kalamazoo Road remains closed until further notice.
The Bureau of Land Management says public and firefighter safety, and protection of sage grouse and mule deer winter habitat, and private property remain top priorities.
Crews say it started Saturday after a prescribed burned out of control.
Currently, about 350 people are fighting the fire.
