Reno police say a 7-year-old boy is dead after being involved in a rollover accident near Longley Lane and Airway Drive.

The accident happened around 8:45am Tuesday.

Police say the child's grandmother was pulling out a parking lot when she was hit by the GMC Yukon. The impact caused her Ford Explorer to roll. The boy was thrown from the SUV and died on scene.

The grandmother suffered non-life threatening injuries. And the two people inside the Yukon, including a nine-year-old girl, both suffered minor injuries.

Police say the boy was not wearing a seatbelt and they don't know yet if the other three people wore seatbelts when the accident happened.

If you have any information regarding this accident, call Reno Police at 775-334-2141 or Secret Witness at 775-322-4900. Your call will remain anonymous.

Police stress it's important children are restrained in appropiate car seats, depending on their size and age. For more information, go to http://bit.ly/KiH998
