Reno Police have a man behind bars after allegedly trying to steal a car Saturday morning.

Police say it happened around 11 a.m. on the 500 block of Brinkby Avenue. Police say a tourist spotted two suspects trying to steal a Honda sedan and called police.

Police were able to catch one of the suspects, 29-year old Antonio David Avina. He faces several charges including attempted grand theft auto, possession of burglary tools and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police say the second suspect ran off. He's described as a Hispanic man with shaggy, ear-length hair. He's about 5'10" tall. He was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt, gray, baggy shorts and white shoes.

If you have any information, you're being asked to call Reno Police at 334-2115 or Secret Witness at 322-4900. You can also text your tip to 847-411.

Police say the tourist who reported the crime is the Director of Public Safety at a university in St. Paul, Minnesota. He's in town for the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators conference.
