The number of people filing for new jobless benefits in Nevada fell in May to the lowest level in four years.
The Associated Press report state economist Bill Anderson says 16,319 initial claims were filed last month, down 9% from May 2011. It's the lowest level since May 2008.
Anderson on Thursday said while new claim filings have decreased for 30 months, the pace of declines has slowed, indicating Nevada's unemployment activity may be stabilizing.
Still, joblessness in Nevada remains the highest in the nation, and Anderson says job growth likely will remain slower than what the state experienced before the recession. (AP)
