This weekend you have a chance to contribute to a good cause, just by doing some bridal shopping in Reno.
An organization called Brides Against Breast Cancer is in town, making a stop on its nationwide tour, selling bridal gowns to help breast cancer victims. And they keep their whole inventory in a very big, pink truck.
"We are here, and we are ready," Brides Against Breast Cancer spokesperson Ashley Ritter said. "We have tons of volunteers to help all of our brides select the gown of their dreams."
Brides Against Breast Cancer hauled their giant trailer to Reno this week to set up shop and raise money for their cause. They have about 1,000 new and used gowns in all shapes and sizes at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, and they're getting ready for a big rush of brides Friday and Saturday. The dresses come from a variety of designers and range from $99 to $8,000.
All the gowns that they sell fund their center in Florida that helps people affected by breast cancer, as well as other breast cancer related charities around the nation.
It's a cause they say is important, because breast cancer touches everyone. And knowing that your wedding dress came from such a good cause just increases the joy on your wedding day.
"It's great to come here, purchase a dress, and get ready for your happy day," Ritter said, "but also make someone else's life better."
The sale runs Friday from 10 to 7, and then Saturday from 10 to 4.
