Sen. Reid, Washoe County Sheriff Unveil Disaster Vehicle

Posted: Updated:

Sen. Harry Reid and Washoe County Sheriff Michael Haley are rolling out a special communications vehicle that will help officials set up a mobile command center during a disaster.

The so-called Critical Incident Response Vehicle was unveiled Tuesday afternoon in Reno.

It will carry vital communications equipment and intelligence-gathering staff, and is the first of its kind in Nevada.

Haley says it's critical that agencies can communicate with each other during a crisis situation.

Reid says the money for the vehicle comes from the U.S. Department of Justice.
