From the University of Nevada School of Medicine:
University of Nevada School of Medicine physicians have teamed up with local doctors to offer low-cost sports participation physicals for high school athletes on Tuesday, May 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. The $20 physical examinations will be offered at Nevada Physical Therapy located on the University of Nevada, Reno campus, near Mackay Stadium.
The Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association-approved evaluations benefit students wishing to participate in high school athletics for the 2012-2013 academic year.
A parent or legal guardian must be present at time of the evaluation. Student-athletes will be evaluated for height, weight, vision, blood pressure, pulse rate and an orthopedic screening followed by a medical history and complete physical exam. After the student-athlete successfully completes the exam and the physician signs the NIAA form, the athlete is cleared to play once the form is turned into the school.
If medical problems are identified during the exam, the student will be referred to their primary care physician or to specialists within the community for further evaluation.
