RENO, Nev. – The Nevada football team will make at least six national television appearances during its first season in the Mountain West this fall as the conference announced its national TV schedule on Thursday.
Headlining the schedule is the move of the Nevada-Boise State game from Thanksgiving weekend to Dec. 1 with the game being televised on either ABC or an ESPN network. Nevada's other five national television appearances will come on CBS Sports Network and NBC Sports Network (formerly Versus). The potential exists for more television broadcasts to be added to the schedule.
Nevada's home opener against South Florida on Sept. 8 will kick-off at 12:30 p.m. at Mackay Stadium and be broadcast on CBS College Sports. The Nevada-Hawai`i game on Sept. 22 will be carried on NBC College Sports with a 7:30 p.m. (Pacific) kickoff time.
The Wolf Pack will have back-to-back games on CBS College Sports in October. San Diego State comes to Reno on Oct. 20 for a 7:30 p.m. game. Nevada will then travel to Air Force for a game that has been moved to Friday, Oct. 26 at 5 p.m. (Pacific). The Fresno State-Nevada game on Nov. 10 will be carried on NBC College Sports with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff from Mackay Stadium.
The conference's national television schedule features a minimum of 25 games on nationally distributed networks. The Mountain West moves into a new era and television structure in 2012, with a new agreement with CBS Sports Network, to increase national exposure for the conference's football programs. CBS Sports Network, the Conference's rights holder, will sub-license games to NBC Sports Network and ESPN.
"This is the first phase of plans for the 2012-13 academic year," said Mountain West Commissioner Craig Thompson. "We are working with CBS Sports Network and member institutions to map out regional and local plans for the remaining 2012 football inventory. We anticipate announcing additional telecasts from these efforts in the coming weeks."
