RENO, Nev.  – (Nevada Media Relations) The University of Nevada (25-19) baseball team defeated St. Mary's (21-21) 6-5 on Tuesday afternoon at Peccole Park.  The Wolf Pack improves to 25-19 while the Gaels fall to 21-21 on the season.

The Gaels scored single runs in the first and third innings to take an early 2-0 lead.  The Pack took advantage of a SMC error in the bottom of the third inning to score four unearned runs to move in front 4-2.  Four different Pack players drove in a run in the big inning.

Garrett Yrigoyen singled home two runs in the bottom of the fourth and it was 6-2 Pack.  SMC scored twice in the fifth and once in the eighth to make the final score 6-5.

Pack closer Matt Gardner retired the side in the top of the ninth to earn his 10th save of the season.  The 10 saves ties Rico Lagatutta (1995) and Tyler Graham (2010) for the best season in school history.  Gardner's 16 career saves is second to Lagatutta's 24.
