SALT LAKE CITY, Utah—Barry Enright scattered a run on three hits Thursday night, lifting the Reno Aces to a 4-1, rain-shortened victory over the Salt Lake Bees at Spring Mobile Ballpark. After six innings, storms blanketed the area, forcing Thursday's series opener to be called an official game and an Aces victory.
Enright (2-1) managed to lower his season ERA to 1.75 after a dominant 81-pitch performance. He out-dueled Salt Lake's Garrett Richards (3-1), who surrendered four runs on eight hits over 3.2 innings of work.
The Aces pushed across a run in the first inning on a two-out, RBI single off the bat of Josh Bell, and Reno never trailed. Randy Ruiz added a solo home run in the third, and run-scoring hits for Ruiz and Bell in the fourth gave the Aces a commanding 4-0 lead.
Ruiz finished with three hits on the night, while Bell and Cole Gillespie added two hits apiece. Jake Elmore drew three walks, stretching his on-base streak to 16 games.
The Aces and Bees will match-up again on Friday night. RHP Chris Jakubauskas (1-3, 5.01 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while RHP Matt Shoemaker (2-0, 4.01 ERA) counters for Salt Lake. First pitch is set for 5:35 p.m. PT, and the action can be heard live on Fox Sports 630 AM.
The Aces return to Reno for an eight-game homestand beginning April 30. Tickets are on-sale now at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
