
RENO, Nev.—Jason Lane tossed two scoreless innings to earn the victory and hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 13th inning Thursday night, as the Reno Aces rallied for a 7-6 victory over the Salt Lake Bees in the series finale at Aces Ballpark.
Lane entered a 6-6 game in the 12th and kept the Bees offense silent over the next two frames. In the home half of the 13th, he came to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs, and promptly drove in the game-winner on an infield single.
Lane (1-0) was the last of a dominant four-man effort for the Aces bullpen Thursday. After starter Joe Martinez surrendered six runs over 5.1 innings, Mike DeMark, Mike Zagurski, Jonathan Albaladejo and Lane kept the Bees off the scoreboard over the game's final 7.2 innings.
The loss fell to Salt Lake's Jeremy Berg—the Bees' fifth pitcher of the night—who allowed the game-winner in the 13th.At the plate for Reno, Cole Gillespie homered and singled. A.J. Pollock, Evan Frey and Mark Reed each collected two hits, as well, in a 12-hit Reno effort.
The Aces now hit the road for the first time this season, beginning with a four-game swing in Sacramento. For Friday's opener, LHP Zach Kroenke (0-1, 7.20 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while the River Cats will counter with RHP Brad Peacock (1-0, 3.00 ERA). First pitch at Raley Field is set for 7:05 p.m. PT, and all the action can be heard live on Fox Sports 630 AM.
