Sophomore guard Deonte Burton has been named an honorable-mention All-American by the Associated Press.
Burton is Nevada's first student-athlete on the AP list since Luke Babbitt was an honorable-mention selection in 2010 and the sixth for the Wolf Pack in the last nine seasons. Kirk Snyder was an honorable-mention selection in 2004 and Nick Fazekas was a three-time honoree (honorable mention in 2005, third team in 2006 and second team in 2007).
A native of Los Angeles, Burton was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year and a National Association of Basketball Coaches all-district selection in 2012. He paced the team with 14.8 points and 4.2 assists per game and led the Wolf Pack to a 28-7 overall record, the WAC regular-season championship and an appearance in the National Invitation Tournament quarterfinals this year.
