The Nevada softball team out-hit Fresno State but left eight runners on base and fell 3-0 in the Western Athletic Conference series opener for both teams on Friday at Hixson Park.

The Wolf Pack (8-21, 0-1 WAC) knocked six hits on the day off Fresno State (20-12, 1-0) ace Michelle Moses, including three doubles. But the Pack was unable to push any runs across and dropped the season opener.

Megan Fincher and Lauren Lastrapes each had two hits and each had a double to lead Nevada offensively. Sara Parson also had a double for the Wolf Pack. Karley Hopkins went 0-for-2 with two walks and saw her team-best and career-long 12-game hitting streak come to an end.

Mallary Darby (6-10) pitched well but took the loss. The senior went six innings, giving up five hits and three runs while walking two and striking out three.

The teams will conclude the three-game WAC-opening set on Saturday with a doubleheader at Hixson Park. First pitch is at 1 p.m.
