After an outstanding season the University of Nevada (26-6) men's basketball team will travel to Tulsa, Okla. to play the University of Tulsa (27-6) in the National Invitation Tournament on Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. PT. The game is scheduled to air on ESPN3.
"We are very excited about playing in the NIT," Head Coach David Carter said. "Oral Roberts is an outstanding basketball team. They are champions of the Summit Conference with an overall 27-6 record and we know it will be a very difficult place to win."
Wednesday's game is a matchup two schools that won their regular season conference titles. The Pack won the Western Athletic Conference regular season championship with a 13-1 mark and ORU posted a 17-1 record in winning the Summit League.
The Pack earned the fifth seed while ORU is seeded fourth in one portion of the bracket. Wednesday's winner will play either Arizona (23-11) or Bucknell (24-9) in round two.
The Pack last played in the NIT in 2010 winning a first round game at Wichita State 74-70 before falling 85-83 at Rhode Island in round two. It will be the fifth appearance for the Wolf Pack in NIT.
"We are excited to play in the NIT," Director of Athletics Cary Groth said. "After winning the WAC regular season title it's a chance for the team to continue that success in postseason play. I'm very proud of coach Carter and the team for winning the WAC regular season."
