Human Bones Found in Douglas County Backcountry

Authorities say bones found by a backcountry traveler in northeast Douglas County have been identified as human.

The Douglas County sheriff's office says the remains were found Wednesday in a drainage wash located on land owned by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. 

They were identified as being human on Thursday. 

It's not known how long the remains were in the area or the identity of the person. 

Sheriff's detectives and BIA agents are conducting a joint investigation. (AP)
