A Nevada Highway Patrol trooper was treated and released after a weekend crash with a driver suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The patrol car of Trooper Dan Lopez was struck in the left front early Saturday when the driver of another vehicle reportedly ran a red light at the intersection of U.S. 395 and Highway 88 in Minden.

A fellow trooper took Lopez to the Carson Valley Medical Center, where he was treated and released for minor injuries.

The Douglas County sheriff's office identified the other driver as 41-year-old Andrew Irvin of Gardnerville.

Irvin was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to obey a traffic signal.

He was released from jail on $2,287 bail. (AP)
