Nevada Loses BracketBuster at Iona College

Nevada fell to 22-5 after falling 90-84 in a Sears BracketBusters game at Iona College (22-6) 90-84 today.

Senior forward Dario Hunt scored his 1,000th point tonight. Hunt became the 22nd player in school history to score 1,000 points. Hunt posted a double-double with 15 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. It was his fourth consecutive double-double, 11th of the season and 22nd of his career. After grabbing 14 rebounds Hunt has moved into 15th in the Western Athletic Conference with his 956 career rebounds.

Olek Czyz scored a career-high 28 points. Czyz's previous career-high was 27 points at SJSU on Feb. 11. It was the third consecutive game he led the Pack in scoring and seventh time this season. He now has four 20-point games this year and eight in his career. Czyz scored in double figures for the 21st time this season and 37th time in his career.

Nevada is 6-3 in BracketBusters games and 0-3 on the road in the event.

Iona shot 62.3 percent from the field which is the high by a Wolf Pack opponent this season. BYU shot 54.4 percent.

The 90 points allowed by the Pack is a season high.

The Iona game was the 12th game that four Pack players scored in double figures as Czyz (28), Burton (21), Hunt (15) and Malik Story (10) reached double digits. Burton scored 20 points for the eighth time this season and 14th time in his career.

Hunt led the Pack in rebounding for the 20th time this season and 57th time in his career. It was the 17th time he grabbed a game-high this year. He has 15 double figure rebound games this year and 32 in his career.

Third-year head coach David Carter is now 57-36.

Nevada returns to WAC play traveling to Fresno, Calif. to play at Fresno State on Feb. 25 at
