Glass to guns, ArenaCross to the Fray. It's a varied weekend on tap for Things 2 Do.

The Nevada Museum of Art is not only exhibiting Tiffany glass, they also have a collection of Tiffany windows on display. And the decorative artwork on guns designed by Tiffany are on display as well. And this weekend an historian who's focused on Tiffany is coming to town to share the secrets. That is at the museum this Saturday.

But it's just the tip of the iceberg for events. You want music? The Fray is on stage at the Silver Legacy this weekend and Kenny Loggins is on stage in Tahoe. Plus you can be a part of a live taping for a new CD being put out by the Reno Jazz Orchestra at the Nugget in Sparks Friday night.

And ArenaCross is taking to the dirt at the Livestock Events Center all weekend long. Enjoy!

Friday, February 17th:

Tiffany Art Exhibit: The Tiffany family design legacy is celebrated in this unique mix of exhibitions featuring Louis Comfort Tiffany's stained glass of the art nouveau era and a rare collection of Tiffany & Co.'s decorative firearms. Charles Lewis Tiffany established Tiffany & Co. in 1837; his son Louis Comfort Tiffany later founded Tiffany Studios, renowned for exquisite decorative objects.

The three exhibitions run through March 20th:
Out of the Forest: Art Nouveau Lamps includes twenty lamps by Tiffany Studios and other lamp manufacturers of the art nouveau era, all from the private collection of Byron Vreeland.

In Company with Angels: Seven Rediscovered Tiffany Windows debuts seven magnificent stained glass church windows by Tiffany Studios recently salvaged after years in storage.

In the Next Room: Brüka Theatre presents "In The Next Room", or The Vibrator Play, a comedy about marriage, intimacy and electricity. Nominated for three Tony awards, the play is set in the 1880s at the dawn of the age of electricity and based on the bizarre historical fact that doctors used vibrators to treat 'hysterical' women (and some men). Ruhl centers her play on "how we separate our bodily functions and labor and love" examining the nature of marriage and what it truly means to love someone. Following the show on January 27th is a post-show opening night champagne reception.

Kenny Loggins at Harrah's (7:30 p.m.): In his time, Loggins has been a guitar slinger with a psychedelic rock band, a hot young songwriter with a publishing deal, half of a legendary country-rock duo, a massively successful and accomplished solo artist, a sonic pioneer in the smooth jazz genre, a reigning soundtrack superstar, a rocker, a seeker, as well as an enduring recording artist and live performer whose most recent works have spoken deeply to both young audiences and decidedly adult and worldly concerns. At the heart of it all, there remains a brilliant singer-songwriter and guitarist with a lifelong passion for exploring the endless power of the song to communicate.

Throw in a trio of Grammy nominations, and you've got the kind of out-of-the-gate explosion that any young artist would envy. And the rest as they say is history.
