Friday 2/10

Celebrate the Art of Tiffany:

The Tiffany family design legacy is celebrated in this unique mix of exhibitions featuring Louis Comfort Tiffany's stained glass of the art nouveau era and a rare collection of Tiffany & Co.'s decorative firearms. Charles Lewis Tiffany established Tiffany & Co. in 1837; his son Louis Comfort Tiffany later founded Tiffany Studios, renowned for exquisite decorative objects.

The three exhibitions, which run through March 20, are:
Out of the Forest: Art Nouveau Lamps includes twenty lamps by Tiffany Studios and other lamp manufacturers of the art nouveau era, all from the private collection of Byron Vreeland.

In Company with Angels: Seven Rediscovered Tiffany Windows debuts seven magnificent stained glass church windows by Tiffany Studios recently salvaged after years in storage.

Tiffany & Co. Arms from the collection of Robert M. Lee features the finest-known collection of privately owned arms—including fine guns and a presentation sword—rivaled only by those on view in the Robert M. Lee Gallery of American Arms at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.

Steve Martin at the Grand Sierra Resort 8pm:

Bluegrass returns to Grand Sierra and Artown with the award-winning Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers. Martin has four Grammy Awards including "Best Bluegrass Album" for 2009's "The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Banjo."

He's backed by The Steep Canyon Rangers who have built a reputation as an engaging acoustic quintet seasoned by constant touring and drawing musical elements from Honky-tonk, classic Country, Bluegrass and Blues. Of course, with a dash of Martin's trademark wit, the show is lively and entertaining.
