From the outside you might think the Jus Bar is like any other fruit smoothie place. Not true. The focus is completely different. "Fresh all natural fruit and vegetables juice and smoothies."

You can see all the ingredients on the counter. Lemons. Carrots. Apples. Spinach in the cooler. No hidden thickening agents. No added sugars. Adam Castleman takes the raw food and either juices it or blends it.

He creates superfoods in a cup. He knows the power of eating fruits and vegetables first hand. Four years ago, at age 16, he was bed bound due to inflammatory bowel disease. "Read a book by someone who suffered from the same condition I did. He used kind of an improved diet and used mainly raw fruits and vegetables to cure himself of the illness and so I started doing the therapy and immediately started noticing some of the benefits."

Further research proved a business based on juicing would also be viable. And so Adam opened up the Jus bar.

A 16-ounce large drink has half your daily supply of fruits and veggies. There's a lot of hidden vegetables in a drink that tastes just like fruit juice. "It's a lot easier to sit down and drink a juice than it is to eat three carrots, two ribs of celery, an entire apple and a little bit of lemon on that."

And Adam's juicer is full throttle. He puts an entire lemon, rind and all, in it. Same process with a pineapple even. He says juicing is a faster, more effective way at getting the nutrients into your body than actually eating the whole fruit or vegetable.

Plus, he offers wheat grass shots cut with apples to take the grassy edge off.

And as for Adam, the power of nature has given him a second chance at life and a first shot at owning his own business. "I don't take any pills anymore. I don't see a doctor I just work here 14 hours a day."

If you want to check it our for yourself, Jus Bar is located at 113 Los Altos Parkway #108 in the Sparks Crossing Shopping Center near Pyramid Highway.
