For the second time this week Northern Nevada business leaders and Governor Brian Sandoval met to celebrate a local company expanding and adding jobs to the local economy.
NOW Foods, a dietary supplement and vitamin company, will add 100 full-time employees this spring. "We are excited to be adding not just manufacturing jobs and plant jobs but chemists and microbiologists to manufacture our products and that means we're pulling from an educated workforce," said Now Foods President Jim Emme.
"This is exactly the kind of project that shows how teamwork can pay off," said Gov. Sandoval. "We worked with business leaders and the universities, EDAWN and the local governments and it's paying off. It's a great success story we can use to bring other businesses here."
The company built a 140,000 square foot building on Vista Boulevard giving 200 construction workers jobs over this past year. "Six months ago we were literally standing in dirt. They built this incredible facility for 10 jobs but were so pleased with working in Nevada 100 manufacturing jobs are being relocated here from overseas," says Gov. Sandoval.
NOW Foods CEO Al Powers adds, "We needed a place where we can work and where we can expand and we're very happy to be here in Nevada."
NOW Foods will accept applications online starting in March at nowfoods.com
