Reno Police Patrol Vehicle Involved in Accident

Posted: Updated:

A Reno Police patrol vehicle was involved in an accident near downtown Reno Friday evening. Reno Police say it happened around 5 p.m. in the intersection of Liberty and Sinclair streets.

They say the patrol vehicle was headed east on Liberty responding to a call, with the lights and siren on, when it was hit by a car going south on Sinclair.

The officer was taken to the hospital for minor injuries, and was later released, while the other driver was reportedly not hurt.

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is investigating the cause of the crash.

Before the accident, police say the officer was trying to assist another officer on a report of shots being fired in an alley during an argument. Police say they later learned that there were no shots fired during the argument.
