Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe Upgrades Approved

Posted: Updated:

RENO, Nev. (AP) -- The Washoe County Board of Adjustment has approved upgrades to the Mount Rose Ski Tahoe resort southwest of Reno.

Thurdsay, the board on Thursday gave its unanimous support to allow a mountaintop restaurant, faster ski lifts and a second snow-making pond.

Mount Rose executives say work on the $23.5 million projects should begin next year and continue over 15 years.

The board's approval is final unless an appeal is filed with the County Commission.

A separate project to expand the resort by 99 acres has been accepted for review by the U.S. Forest Service. The federal agency must conduct an environmental study of that proposal, which could take several years to complete.
