Democrats Respond to GOP Presidential Candidate Visits

Posted: Updated:

Local Democrats will be watching Saturday's caucus closely as the race to take on President Obama continues.

In a response to all the visits from Republican Presidential candidates, the former Chair of the State Democratic Party says the GOP hopefuls haven't really touched on issues affecting Nevadans, like the highest foreclosure and unemployment rates in the country.

"I'm not hearing any messaging from the Republicans, particularly around the foreclosure crisis. Nearly half of Nevadans have a home that's underwater and Obama right now is pushing some legislation to try to give relief to those people facing foreclosure," former chair Jill Derby said.

In an interview with Channel 2 News, Derby says about 7,000 volunteers in Nevada are already working on President Obama's re-election campaign.

She also told us she hopes Nevada will once again be the third nominating contest in the country in the 2016 race.
