Company Working to Fix Issues with New Parking Kiosks

Posted: Updated:

The City of Reno says a private company is working to fix some issues with the new parking kiosks in Downtown Reno.

The founder of the company that manages the kiosks for the city said the initial problems should be resolved by the end of the month.

The city says it had received complaints about the kiosks not being user-friendly enough. The city approved a pilot program for them in October 2010.

Since then, they are about 85% finished and cover 950 parking spaces downtown.

The new parking kiosks eliminate the need for a meter and lets drivers use a credit card to pay.

The new system also sends you a text message when your parking spot is about to run out of money.
