From the United States Postal Service:
The Washoe Drive fire has impacted normal delivery of some mail, according to the U.S. Postal Service.
According to Postal Operations Manager Renee Brown, carriers are out in force today, but some will be turned by back by National Guard or law enforcement.
"We are making attempts to deliver all the mail," she said, "But we will hold the mail for any areas that we cannot safely reach."
The mail for delivery addresses that cannot be reached will be held for pickup on Saturday. They will not receive delivery on Saturday either.
The mail for affected deliveries for ZIP Codes 89511 and 89521, which includes Mt. Rose, East Lake, Pleasant Valley, and Old Washoe City areas, can be picked up Saturday at the Steamboat Springs Post Office, 75 McCabe Drive.
The Saturday hours for Steamboat Station have been extended from 8:30 to 5.
Affected mail for ZIP Code 89704, the north end of East Lake, will be available at the main Carson City Post Office, 1111 S. Roop St. The Saturday hours will be from 10-4.
Bring a photo identification.
Once it's determined to be safe to drive the roads in the affected areas, normal mail operations will resume.
