
Nevada improved to 7-3 after defeating Montana (5-5) 70-64 tonight.
Third-year head coach David is now 41-35.
Sophomore guard Deonte Burton scored a game-high 21 points. It is the third consecutive game Burton posted a game-high, after 31 versus Washington, 28 at Arizona State and the 21 at Montana. Nevada has won a season-high four in a row. After starting the season 0-2 Nevada has won seven of its last eight games.
Senior forward Dario Hunt has posted back-to-back double doubles finishing with 10 points and 10 rebounds tonight. Wednesday at Arizona State Hunt had 14 points and 12 rebounds. It is the 13th double-double of his career and his second of the season. Hunt has four double figure rebound games this season and 21 in his career. Hunt led the Pack in rebounding for the sixth time this season and 43rd time in his career.
Tonight marked the fourth game this season, Nevada had four players score in double figures in a game; Burton with his 21, Olek Czyz totaled 17, Malik Story finished with 11 and Hunt contributed 10. Czyz just missed a double-double finishing with 17 points and nine rebounds. The nine rebounds equaled his season-high which he also had against Longwood and BYU.
Nevada is 7-3 after 10 games this season. Last season the Pack went 2-8 in the first 10 games of the season. The Pack improved to 3-2 away from Reno after the Montana victory. Last year the Pack started 0-10 away from Lawlor Events Center before winning 69-67 at Boise State on Jan. 15, 2011.
For the first time this season Nevada did not attempt more free throws than its opponent. Montana made 21-of-29 and Nevada 13-of-19. The Montana game also marked the first time an opponent made more free throws in a game than the Wolf Pack.
Nevada hosts UC Riverside on Dec. 17 at 3:00 p.m. PT.
