After the Caughlin Fire broke out early Friday morning, the northern Nevada chapter of the American Red Cross was crucial in providing shelter and feeding hundreds forced out of their homes.
They got some extra help to keep up the good work. Wells Fargo, IGT, NV Energy, Nevada State Bank, Charles Schwab Bank and Walmart presented the northern Nevada chapter with $65,000 in checks Wednesday.
The money will go to the victims of the Caughlin Fire, and help the Red Cross help other disaster victims.
"It will be used primarily to help the disaster victims and the support we provide to disaster victims," said the Northern Nevada Red Cross Chairman, Tim Nelson. "Not only from the Caughlin Ranch Fire, but all the other ones."
Nelson says the chapter also got about $25,000 in donations over the phone and online last weekend.
