Twice a week, you'll find Matt Wilson at New2U Computers – stocking the warehouse and processing donations. "I open computer parts, take them out, clean them out."

But it's more than just a job for this 35-year-old. Working here affords Wilson the independent life he desires. And it's largely thanks to a woman, who's not only his boss, but his friend.

Robin Krueger handles business development and fundraising at New2U Computers, which repairs, recycles and re-sells used computers. "They refurbish the computers and they're all very high quality computers."

All the proceeds support ‘Disability Resources' – an agency that helps people with developmental disabilities live to their highest potential. "If they want to live independently or have jobs, make sure they have recreational or social activities, that they're meeting their budget from their state disability money, any goals, we help them be able to do that."

Aside from job training, her clients also learn basic life skills.

And seeing their growth inspires Robin to continue working to make a difference – not just in their lives, but by helping people all over the community. Robin's spent a majority of her career in non-profit management. She also volunteers with Reno Leadership, and networking programs, the chamber of commerce, even elementary school kids.

And her goal, which is evident at New2U Computers, is to inspire people to live up to their highest potential. "I've been able to make a career out of making change and encourage people to make change in their community or within themselves."

As Matt certainly has – all thanks to this community non-profit and someone who believes in him. "I love it. I love to work with Robin. She's my boss and I totally love her a lot."

Our e-waste recycling event is this weekend.

Head out to the old Park Lane Mall parking lot on Plumb Lane Saturday from 9am to 2pm.

It'll cost you $20 per vehicle, but you can get a $10 voucher at Whole Foods or New2U Computers on Greg Street.

It's also "Secure Your ID Day" this Saturday.

Just head out to the AT&T parking lot on Plumb Lane and Yori Avenue between 9am-noon to get rid of sensitive documents for free.

You can shred up to three boxes or bags per visit.
