Dozens of people helped raise money for the families of the Nevada Army National Guardmembers affected by last month's shooting.

Channel 2's own Mike Alger was one of about 130 people who participated in a golf tournament at the Thunder Canyon Golf Course in Washoe Valley Monday.

Organizers put it together over the last three weeks and were delighted at the outpouring of support from the community. "It's been awesome, it's just a great way to give back from the community who were individuals," says Mary Devine, National Guard Association board member.

Organizers also raised more than $13,000 through tournament entry fees, donations and a silent auction.

The money will go to help the two Nevada Army National Guardsmen who were wounded as well as families of the three guardsmen killed in the shooting.

A fourth victim, Florence Donovan-Gunderson, also died in the shooting.
