QUARTERBACK TANDEM: As expected, both Tyler Lantrip and Cody Fajardo played in the game against Texas Tech. The senior Lantrip started and completed 11]of]18 for 191 yards and a touchdown, which came in the second half. Fajardo attempted just six passes but completed four for 59 yards and a score –his first collegiate touchdown pass (to Kolby Arendse). He also ran for 139 yards and two touchdowns.
ROY HAS BIG GAME: Senior defensive tackle Brett Roy recorded a pair of sacks as part of a 3.5 TFL game. He now has four sacks on the year. He should be among the nation's leaders in sacks and tackles for loss when updated NCAA statistics come out on Sunday.
ARENDSE EMERGES: Sophomore tight end Kolby Arendse had the best game of his young Wolf Pack career. He caught three passes for 48 yards (both career highs) and his first career touchdown .
MATTHEWS OVER 100: For the fourth time in his career, senior wideout Rishard Matthews went over the 100]yard mark receiving on Saturday night. He continued his hot start to the season with five catches for 107 yards and a touchdown.
BALL AND FAJARDO TOP 100: Nevada might have a new rushing dup as junior running back Mike Ball and redshirt freshman quarterback Cody Fajardo racked up big yards on the ground against Texas Tech. Ball and Fajardo each topped the 100]yard mark. For Ball it was the fourth time in his career and second time this season he's eclipsed the century mark. For Fajardo, it was his first career 100]yard game and first career multi]TD game on the ground.
EXTRA POINTS: Nevada won the opening toss and deferred to the second half … Nevada kicked off and defended the North … Senior Scott Frisbie made his first career start at tight end and Tray Session started at WR, his first start of the year … Chris Barker started for the 30th consecutive game (all 30 games of his career) … Rishard Matthews caught his first pass of the game in the first quarter and extended his streak of consecutive games with a reception to 17 (all 17 games of his career) … Nevada recorded 562 yards of total offense and did not turn the ball over.
NEXT UP: Nevada will continue its four]game road trip as it travels to Boise, Idaho to face Boise State. The game will be a non]conference tilt as the Broncos are now part of the Mountain West. Nevada won last year's matchup between the teams in Reno in overtime, 34]31.
