Local trauma volunteers continue to help staff and families at the Family Assistance Center at the Hyatt Place Hotel in Reno.

Trauma Intervention Program of Northern Nevada (TIP) says its volunteers provide immediate on-scene emotional and practical support to survivors of tragedy all year round.

On Friday, TIP says 17 volunteers were on scene within 45 minutes of the crash at the Reno-Stead Airport providing support to witnesses, military personnel and, first responders.

Within minutes, TIP volunteers were separated into three different groups – one at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center, a second working the Crisis Call Center and third continuing to provide care on-scene.

Volunteers helped the Family Assistance Center on Saturday and Sunday and continue to help support staff there today.

The Family Assistance Center will transition to the Washoe County Regional Emergency Operations Center at 5195 Spectrum Blvd.

People searching for missing family members or to report a missing person should call 211. From outside the 775 area code, people should call 775-784-8085 or 775-337-5800.

TIP says 30 volunteers have so far donated 30,000 hours in its first 18 months, helping 850 trauma survivors and 700 emergency responders of various major incidents like the recent IHOP shooting in Carson City and the Walmart shooting in Reno last year.
