NEVADA 17      SAN JOSE STATE 14

With the win, Nevada evened it's 2011 record at 1]1. The win moved Nevada's all]time record to 503]436]33 and Hall of Fame coach Chris Ault notched his 220th career win against 98 losses and one tie.

FOUR IN A ROW: The win marked Nevada's fourth]straight victory over the Spartans and ninth in the last 10 meetings between the teams. The Wolf Pack now leads the all]time series 16]8]2 and improved to 7]6 over SJSU in games played in San Jose. The Pack]Spartans series dates back to 1899. This is the last time the teams will meet as members of the WAC and Nevada was 9]3 against SJSU while within the WAC.

DEFENSE SHINES: The Wolf Pack defense had its struggles in the season opener but Nevada clamped down on Saturday. At halftime, the Spartans had just 52 yards of total offense and Nevada held San Jose State to negative yards in the second quarter. The Spartans' first]half touchdown came on a 28]yard run after a Nevada turnover gave them the ball inside the Pack's 40]yard line.

The Pack also forced a pair of fumbles – its first two turnovers created of the year – as Brett Roy and James]Michael Johnson each recovered fumbles. Those came before Duke Williams's interception in the waning moments sealed the win. The interception was the third of his career.

For the game, Nevada's defense yielded 290 yards of total offense to San Jose State, with much of that

coming in the second half, and held the Spartans to 4]of]14 on third]down conversions.

BALL STARTS, OVER CENTURY MARK: In the season opener at Oregon, Mike Ball came off the bench and rushed for 99 yards in the Wolf Pack's loss. Today against SJSU, Ball got his first career start and made the most of it with 29 carries for 124 yards and two touchdowns. The performance marked Ball's third career 100]yard effort. He previously topped the century markagainst UNLV in 2009 (184 yards) and Idaho in 2010 (101 yards).

EXTRA POINTS: San Jose State won the toss and elected to receive while Nevada defended the north goal … Sophomore tight end Kolby Arendse made his first career start, as did running back Mike Ball …

Senior Corbin Louks started his first career game wide receiver after starting one game at safety last year … Junior safety Marlon Johnson wore No. 11 and senior running back Lampford Mark wore No. 31 due to a uniform issue … Senior punter Jake Hurst had a good day for the Pack as hepunted six times for a 43.2 yard average, placing two inside the SJSU 20, including one inside the 5.

NEXT UP: Nevada will continue its four]game road trip as it travels to Lubbock, Texas to face Texas Tech of the Big 12 Conference. Kickoff is schedule for 4 p.m. (PT) and the game will be televised on Fox College Sports along with radio coverage on the Wolf Pack Radio Network.
