The Blue Star Moms are military mothers who have been helping each other deal with loss and tragedy for years. And the Truckee Meadows chapter of that group is offering help to the families of victims of the IHOP shooting in Carson City.
"We just want to offer any help they may need. Babysitting, food, someone to talk to. All they need to do is e-mail us on our website and we are very happy to help," says Gwen Jensen, President of the Truckee Meadows Chapter of the Blue Star Moms.
The group also raises awareness and donations to help fund care packages to our troops overseas.
"We have kids, brothers, friends in all branches of the military. If they aren't deployed, they could be. If they don't have needs right this minute they will. And we do all we can to help make sure they have everything. We collect it package it and make sure it gets there," Jensen says.
"We realize this is a difficult time for everyone. Not only is 9-11 upon us, now those families are dealing with their own losses and we just want to help," Jensen says.
