Both Directions of I-80 Back Open After Accidents

Posted: Updated:

The Nevada Highway Patrol dispatch center says both directions of Interstate 80 are back open after multiple accidents.

The first accident happened on I-80 West near the Robb Drive exit around 11:15 a.m. Monday morning. That's where a jackknifed SUV pulling a camping trailer ended up blocking both lanes for about two hours. NHP says the driver of that SUV was a 21-year-old male with a learner's permit being supervised by a 26-year-old. No one was injured in that accident.

The second accident was on I-80 East near the Virginia Street exit. NHP says in that accident traffic was stopped when one vehicle rear ended another. Six people total were in the two cars and three of them were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

As of 1:10 p.m. Monday, NHP says both directions are back open but the slow downs will likely continue because of high traffic from Labor Day travelers and Burning Man.
