More families are enrolling at Connections Academy as an alternative to the non-traditional school year because it offers more flexibility.
"We can just look at the schedule, decide what looks we need, put it in a bag, get in the car and go away for a week so it's really nice," says parent Amanda MacDonald.
Unlike a traditional school, Connections Academy lets families set the hours they want children to go to school and then they take online lessons at their convenience.
The lesson are crafted by professional teachers to rigorous academic standards.
The school says in addition to offering more flexibility the online learning system allows them to give students more individual attention. "We can zero in on problems and even special abilities that the students excel at, and we can zero in on all that really easily because we have so much documentation and data at our fingertips," says secondary science teacher Jason Evans.
Connections Academy's enrollment has been growing annually since it opened four years ago.
