THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RENO HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR SOUTHERN WASHOE COUNTY IN WESTERN NEVADA...

* UNTIL 845 PM PDT

* AT 748 PM PDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A
LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING QUARTER SIZE
HAIL...AND DAMAGING WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH. THESE STORMS WERE
LOCATED ALONG A LINE EXTENDING FROM WADSWORTH TO SPARKS...AND MOVING
NORTHWEST AT 25 MPH.

* LOCATIONS AFFECTED INCLUDE...SPANISH SPRINGS...NIXON...SUTCLIFFE...
PYRAMID LAKE AND VIRGINIA PEAK.

FREQUENT CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING IS OCCURRING WITH THIS STORM. MOVE
INDOORS IMMEDIATELY! IF YOU CAN HEAR THUNDER...YOU ARE CLOSE ENOUGH
TO BE STRUCK BY LIGHTNING. STAY OFF LANDLINE TELEPHONES AND UNPLUG
ANY SENSITIVE ELECTRONICS.

THIS STORM IS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL. WATCH FOR
PONDING WATER ON AREA ROADWAYS. DRIVERS SHOULD SLOW DOWN IF
ENCOUNTERING HEAVY RAINS...AND REMEMBER TO TURN ON THEIR HEADLIGHTS.
