Wild Horse Roundup Will Move Forward

Posted: Updated:

RENO, Nev. (AP) -- The U.S. Bureau of Land Management has been given the green light to move ahead with a wild horse roundup in Nevada.

A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco lifted a temporary injunction on Tuesday that put the government roundup on hold since a federal judge in Reno ruled in favor of the BLM late last week.

The two-page ruling says the Colorado-based Cloud Foundation had failed to show it likely would ultimately prove the roundup is illegal and that the removal of 1,700 mustangs from public range would cause irreparable harm.

Foundation lawyer Rachel Fazio says the roundup will be over by the time the group gets to make its case in court this fall.
