The Reno Police Department says there have been two stabbings and two shootings near downtown Reno this week alone.

Lieutenant Mohammad Rafaqat said despite the recent crime spree, downtown is still safe. "Downtown Reno is experiencing what a lot of cities experience during summer days when there's a congregation of bars and people drinking."

About 4:15am Wednesday, police said three white men were asked to leave Wurk Bark on Commercial Row. Police say the men left, but returned for revenge a bit later. "The officers identified three victims. Two people had been stabbed and another shot."

Police said all three victims have non-life threatening injuries.

They are still looking for the suspects.

A similar incident happened just a block up the road, near the Knitting Factory on Monday morning.

Police said shots rang out hours after a Tech N9ne concert. "Somebody from an opening act of his was shot and he's also doing well."

In all, police said at least 16 rounds were fired in the back alley beside the concert hall. "We're still trying to piece that investigation together and determine why it led to a shooting and who is responsible."

Police said despite the recent crime spree, statistics show crime, overall for the year is about the same. "It may appear on the rise because of the nature of the three cases we've had the last two to three weeks," said Rafaqat. "However, when you look at the numbers, it actually isn't anything out of the ordinary."

Rafaqat said Reno Police do plan to have more officers in the downtown area throughout the rest of the summer.
