ELKO, Nev. (AP) - The Bureau of Land Management has given the go-ahead for a pipeline project in Eureka County. Prospector Pipeline Co. intends to bury a 12-inch pipe along an 18-mile route to deliver natural gas from the North Elko Pipeline to Newmont Mining Co.'s Leeville and Gold Quarry mines.

MESQUITE, Utah (AP) - Homeowners in a northern Nevada community say their floors are shaking and their walls cracking as the weight of a former landfill tears them apart. Some residents of the Highland Hills neighborhood say about half the homes there went up inside a supposed 200-foot buffer zone surrounding the former Mesquite landfill.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Caesars Entertainment is vying to build a casino 50 miles north of New York City. A Caesars spokesman says the Las Vegas-based company has submitted a $1 million casino license application fee for a proposed $750 million complex in Woodbury. Today is the deadline to pay the application fee for groups contending to open one of four planned upstate casinos.

LAS VEGAS (AP) - A Nevada woman has been found guilty of shooting and paralyzing her son some two decades after she was acquitted of killing her husband in Florida. The Review-Journal reports 66-year-old Linda Cooney showed no emotion when a jury handed down guilty verdicts. She faces three to 65 years in prison on the charges. Kevin Cooney defended his mother in both trials.
