While many enjoyed the nice day down in the valley, some took advantage of a rare opportunity on Memorial Day to hit the slopes.
Up at Squaw Valley USA, some skiers and snowboarders took advantage of recent snow.
They say the snow levels are great this year because of our wetter-than-normal winter.
"It was a lot of fun, especially up top the mountain where it was a little colder. The snow was good," says Chris Jensen of Pollack Pines, California.
Paul Arthur of Squaw Valley adds, "the snow conditions on top were rather typical of February or March, not of Memorial Day but still quite fun, really good skiing. We enjoyed it very much."
Just today Squaw Valley announced it will actually be open the weekend of July fourth.
That's the first time the resort has been open that late in over a decade.
