A group called Nevadans for Carbon Free Energy is proposing an "energy park" for the Yucca Mountain site the Obama administration wants shut down.

Supporters say spent nuclear fuel could be reprocessed with new technology eliminating up to 95% of the radioactivity and reusing the remainder for new fuel.

The group says up to $1 billion a year in new revenue would flow into the state and virtually solve the budget crisis. They claim there could be so much money that each Nevada family could receive a dividend check like Alaskans do, due to the pipeline.

Opponents say Nevadans have spoken often through votes and polls they don't want any kind of dump here, temporary or otherwise. And they are unsure of the technology or how to get it here. But supporters think dangling money in front of a cash strapped state, may push their proposal forward.
