Waste Management Offers Free Dump Days in Reno Area

Posted: Updated:

Waste Management announced today the second of four "Residential Dump Days" to be held in 2010 at the WM Transfer Stations in Reno.  The dates for the upcoming event are Saturday, April 3rd, and Sunday, April 4th

In addition, Waste Management will be holding the annual "Lockwood Landfill Free Dump Event" on nine specific days throughout the month of April.

Event #1:  Residential Dump Days, April 3-4.  In an effort to assist residents with household clean-ups and curb illegal dumping, Waste Management will be offering reduced residential rates for Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) at both Transfer Stations in Reno the first weekend in April.  In addition, identified materials commonly associated with illegal dumping will be accepted at no charge.  These specific items include eligible household appliances (Freon-free refrigerators, hot water heaters, stoves, dishwashers and washers/dryers) and eligible bulky waste (sofas, chairs, mattresses and box springs).  Any material that falls outside of these parameters will be accepted at more than 50% off the regular gate rate (rates outlined below).

Event #2:  Annual Free Dump.  In addition to the quarterly Residential Dump Days, Waste Management is offering its annual free dump weekends at the Lockwood Landfill throughout April in recognition of Earth Day.  Three weekends in the month of April have been chosen for the "Lockwood Free Dump Event" to give residents several options, including three Saturdays, which will also reduce wait times.  The dates at Lockwood Landfill are the following Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays:

—  Event 1:  April 1st, 2nd and 3rd

—  Event 2:  April 15th, 16th and 17th

—  Event 3:  April 29th, 30th and May 1st

"Waste Management is committed to helping the communities we serve with all of their environmental service needs," said Justin Caporusso, Waste Management Spokesperson.  "Providing these events helps keep thousands of yards of waste and bulky items from being dumped illegally in our open space."
