Earlier this week we told you how President Obama has decided not to fund Yucca Mountain any further. So, that begs the question, what's next for the proposed nuclear waste dump site?

Senator Harry Reid says the president's budget will propose withdrawing a license application and all funds for Yucca Mountain.

"I've sent a letter to the general accounting office saying I want you to look at ways we can use Yucca Mountain. We've spent tens of billions of dollars on this, waste of taxpayer dollars. We should be able to use it for something," says Senator Harry Reid.

Reid says the facilities could be used for anti-terrorism efforts or for storing stuff other than dangerous nuclear waste.

The proposed site 90 miles northwest of Las Vegas has been targeted for 20 years to house the nation's high level nuclear waste.

Reid says Obama will appoint a commission to consider dealing with the nation's nuclear waste.

Democratic Reps. Shelley Berkley and Dina Titus of Las Vegas also hailed Obama's funding cut for Yucca Mountain.
